charges filed by mayor ed lee. now what happens, and can everyone at city hall play nice? joedi hernandez spoke with the the sheriff one on one. it's been a long haul. does he think it's been worth it? >> reporter: it certainly has, and i believe he does think it was worth it. the reinstated sheriff returned to his offices here at city hall this afternoon. he says he is anxious to get back to work, and he says by his book he is officially the sheriff again. before he returned to his offices today, he took some time to share his thoughts and emotions with us on the roller coaster ride he's been through. >> we're tired. we didn't get much sleep last night to say the least. we're just absolutely gratified and thankful for all the aamazing support. >> reporter: though exhausted, the reinstated sheriff is all smiles. well-wishers stopped to congratulate him as he made his way back to work. >> it's time to heal, and it's not win or lose and what side or me being reinstated or not. i think it's time to heal, and it's nice that we all rise above, i think, this experience, which is agonizing for a

adult was also injured at st. andrew's catholic church in daly city. kimberly tere joins us from daly city with more for us. >> reporter: diane, you can see the markers left on the ground by investigators who were here for hours in this parking lot. the accident happened just before 9:00 this morning, just as mass was about to begin, and catechism for the kids was getting under way. so witnesses say the parking lot was very busy. according to daly city police, a woman in her 50s driving a minivan hit a mother, her child, and another woman. all three victims were taken to san francisco general hospital where the 6-year-old girl died. the two women, one 45, the other 46 years old are, still hospitalized tonight. their conditions unknown. parishioners say the accident is very upsetting, and at this afternoon's mass, the church prayed for the families involved. >> it should not have happened. the parking lot is small, like i said. and i think this guy must have come speeding. >> it's been there already. we don't know what happened. feel like someone is crying for help. >> it's a red car.

mother in the hospital after a car slammed into them in a daily city church parking lot. happened at the saint andrew catholic church around 9:00. the little girl who later died at the hospital was at the church for saturday school. >> when the class is over, kids are coming out maybe 40 or 50 kids in this building over here. >> there's a lot of traffic. >> not much in the way of traffic. just a bunch of kids coming out. >> the girl's mother and another woman are recovering at the hospital with life threatening injuries. the woman behind the wheel stayed at the scene after the crash. she has not been charged. >> east palo alto detectives are -- police say 21-year-old christopher baker was found wounded on 820 last night. three hours later, 24-year-old brown with multiple shots to his body. both victims died at the scene. >> traffic didn't appear to be a major issue during this weekend in the bay area. big events in san francisco is bringing an estimated 1 million people to the city. one of those spectacles the giant's first playoff game of the year. joins us now with an update as

time sheriff ross mirkarimi and his wife eliana lopez was here at city hall was when they decided to oust sheriff ross mirkarimi and that recommendation was presented to the board. mayor ed lee suspended him without pay after he pled guilty. it stemmed from an incident with his wife who suffered a bruised arm as a result. it is one of city's more liberal supervisors and some say they want him out. they say it is simply a conflict of the interest. the mayor said that public officials need to be held to a higher standard. now the mayor, may have his own problems to deal with. they say ed lee purge engineered him is -- purge jordan perjuried himself and they say he is seeking his removal. they say it is all a politically charged witch hunt and meanwhile they will take nine of the -- it would take nine of the 11 board of supervisors to remove sheriff ross mirkarimi from office. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> president barack obama is waking up and we will show you a picture south of market where the president spent the night. traffic around the hotel is restricted rig
